At just three weeks old, Button and Truffle, the kittens, were found outside without their mother and urgently needed bottle feeding. Angela, a foster volunteer, stepped in to care for them.

The first few days were challenging as the twins grappled with stomach troubles and needed supportive care. Angela bottle-fed them around the clock, even tube-feeding Button when he lost his appetite.

Through her devoted care, they perked up, mastered the litter box, and found comfort in each other’s cuddles.

“Even though they were not feeling the best, they still loved to purr and meow whenever they saw people,” Angela shared.

After a week of intensive care and many sleepless nights for their foster mom, the kittens rebounded with renewed energy and hearty appetites. Soon, they were back to their usual playful selves.

Once the kittens were fully weaned, Angela breathed a sigh of relief, finally able to get some well-deserved rest.

The twins blossomed into affectionate, playful kittens, following their foster mom everywhere. On their first adventure beyond their room, they bravely tackled the stairs. One of them paused, glancing back to encourage his brother to follow suit.

While caring for the twins, Angela was informed about a little ginger tabby, all alone and eager for a companion.

Abraxos, the ginger, was orphaned at just three days old and brought to the Yolo SPCA, where he was hand-reared from the start. Having been nurtured by people all his life, he became attached to them, constantly seeking their attention.

“As he grew older, we knew that he needed friends his age to play with and to teach him appropriate cat behavior,” Angela told Love Meow.

Thinking it would be a great match, they introduced Abraxos to the twins, who were about his age. The ginger, having never met another kitten his size, was a bit hesitant at first.

“There were quite a few hisses and puffed-up tails on the first night.” But by the next day, the dynamic completely changed.

Despite the tension the day before, a good night’s sleep worked wonders. They woke up playing together as if they’d been best friends all along.

Abraxos warmed up to the twins, snuggling with them and gently cleaning their faces. He zoomed around with Button while Truffle scrambled to keep up.

“Since Truffle is about 200 grams smaller than both of them, he usually likes to watch (from the sidelines).”

Button took Abraxos under his wing, guiding him and teaching him the ways of a cat. “They are around the same size and both very playful. They perfectly match each other’s energy.”

One morning, Angela walked in to find all three of them cozily cuddled up together, a sight that instantly melted her heart. “They chose the smallest box to squeeze in.”

With two feline friends to romp around with, Abraxos no longer feels lonely. All three were orphaned, but now they have exactly what they need: each other’s warmth and playful company.

“When it’s nap time for the kittens, they often choose to sleep and cuddle together. It’s really heartwarming to see them become best friends.”

With a second chance, these kittens have thrived and grown into beautiful young cats. The twins have gained a new brother, and the tabby never has to sleep alone at night.
