A cat arrived at an animal shelter with kittens in tow. The staff soon noticed she shared an adorable bond with the runt of the litter.

Tigger, a beautiful dark tabby, came to Exploits Valley SPCA with kittens in tow, hoping for a better life.
Shelter staff welcomed them in with open arms and provided the mother with a comfortable nursery where she could raise her last litter. They ensured her food was constantly replenished and her six babies grew steadily, hitting all the milestones.
Tigger adored her precious kittens and catered to their every whim, but one of them had the mom wrapped around her tiny paw.

Rabbit, the only gray kitten in the litter, has always been smaller than her siblings.
Despite being the runt, she held her own when nursing alongside her littermates or wrestling with them as they discovered play. “She keeps up with her siblings no problem and puts the boys right in their place,” the SPCA shared.

At two years old, Tigger was still a kitten at heart. She showered her babies with unconditional love and mandatory baths, but she doted on Rabbit with extra attention and often curled up beside her when they napped.
As the six grew into boisterous, independent teenage cats, Rabbit continued to cling to her mom, basking in all the affection.

When the kittens were old enough to spread their wings and fly, Tigger proudly showed them off to prospective adopters. “They are so fluffy, friendly, and perfect in every way. Tigger the most by far.”
“She has been the best mom, but she is ready for her and her babies to flee the SPCA and settle into homes of their very own.”

One by one, Tigger watched as the kittens were chosen by loving families and left the shelter for good.
Mother cats are often overlooked at the shelter when the kittens steal the spotlight. It takes a special kind of person to look beyond the immediate appeal of a kitten and see the beauty and potential in a cat.

Sheila came across a post about Tigger and her family and was instantly smitten with the mother cat. After contacting the SPCA and hearing how much Tigger adored Rabbit, she knew they should stay together.
Once her adoption application was approved, she began preparing for the mother and daughter’s homecoming with matching baskets awaiting them the next morning.

“Not only were all of Mama Tigger’s babies adopted, but she was too. Better yet, she was adopted with her favorite baby, the runt of the litter. It’s definitely a happily ever after for this little family.”
After a long journey, the mother and daughter, now Puss and Boots, arrived at their forever home.

They quickly settled in and claimed every inch they touched. Mama found her favorite perch on a table while her kitten discovered a hidden perch underneath.
Content and pleased, the sweet mom watches her energizer-bunny kitten zoom around until she tires out, then curls up next to her and melts into her arms.

“They are entertaining. I could sit and watch them all day,” Sheila shared on Facebook.
With the help of many compassionate people, Puss and Boots, as well as the rest of their family, are thriving in their dream homes.
